At the 2022 MTV VMAs on Sunday, Taylor Swift revealed that a new album would be out in October.
The 32-year-old singer announced the release date of her brand-new album in a humorous manner as she accepted the Video of the Year award.
I’ll tell you more at midnight, she hinted, before revealing the apt name of her upcoming project: “Midnights.”
We are crying and in turmoil as we lie awake in love and terror. We drink until the walls start speaking back while we stare at them,” she commented next to a picture of the album cover.
We twitch in our self-made cages and hope we aren’t about to make some crucial life-changing error right now.
According to Swift, her latest album was “composed in the middle of the night, a voyage through terrors and wonderful dreams.” The demons we must confront and the floors we pace.
Swift issued an official countdown on her website with the words “Meet me at midnight” and a ticking clock before making the astounding news.
Right at 12:00 ET, the website ultimately crashed.
However, a lot of fans believed that the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer made references to reissuing her 2017 album “Reputation” throughout the performance.
Swift said during her acceptance speech for Best Longform Video that the win was “an indication we did something well”; her Swifties will attest to this.
Swift repeats, “I did one thing right,” in the song “Call It What You Want” from her album “Reputation,” and a Twitter user noticed the similarity.
As the first artist to win for a video she herself created, Swift is also the first artist to have won a third video of the year award. She had previously won for the songs “Bad Blood” in 2015 and “You Need to Calm Down” in 2019.
