The fantasy adaptation The Sandman was dethroned by a new top show on Netflix. The most watched series on the streaming service right now is the brand-new mystery thriller Echoes, which debuted on August 19.
Leni and Gina, two identical twins played by Michelle Monaghan of Mission: Impossible, are the focus of the limited series. Since childhood, the sisters have switched lives, and now each sister is leading a double life with two homes and two husbands. However, the twins’ secret becomes far more problematic when one of the children goes missing. The cast also includes Karen Robinson from Schitt’s Creek, Ali Stroker from Ozark, and Matt Bomer from Magic Mike.
The series keeps viewers on the edge of their seats and leaves them with many unanswered questions since it is full of twists and turns and the additional complexity of two identical characters performed by the same actor.
One Twitter user wrote, “I’m watching #EchoesNetflix and I need a chart or some diagram to keep this tale straight.”
Another user wrote, “Get pen & paper if you’re going to see Echoes on Netflix because you’d need to take notes to stay up.”
Another user commented: “I just finished episode 1 of #EchoesNetflix and I need a minute because my brain is not understanding who was who, when they were there, or where they were.”
A second season of the short-lived series is being requested by some viewers, with one supporter tweeting: “Just finished watching the series. If there was ever a limited series that needed a part 2, it was this one. reminded me of the late 1990s mystery/thriller movies.”
